Welcome everyone to our first newsletter for 2010! What an amazing start to the year, with the Club refurbished over the
Christmas Holidays to become an even better place to practise all those fantastic skills and have a great time learning with
your friends.
It’s been a big buzz to see all those new Club Dynamite singlets as well. Everyone registered receives a Club singlet as well as
the gymnastics QLD badge and card, so make sure you’ve picked up yours.
Block 1 is nearly over and Block 2 will commence on Monday 14th March, which means fees will be due. Note that we do not
follow school terms. We will be open as normal during all school holidays and student free days but closed for Public holidays
including the Easter long weekend (Easter Friday, Saturday & Monday). Invoices will be in the boxes at the reception counter.
Congratulations
To our boys who have been accepted to be members of our State squad in 2010, with a record number of 12 boys, from Club
Dynamite, being selected to be a part of this prestigious team.
Great accolades to coach Kristel, who lectured at Gymnastics QLD 2010 Congress (educational seminars for all coaches). Her
lecture “The power of words” was exceptional and we are so proud that the core beliefs of Club Dynamite can be spread to
create a greater understanding of the effects of what you say and how you say it. Lecture briefs are available on the GQ
website.
Performance team were invited to perform at the Gala ceremony, among some of Australia’s top international gymnasts. The
team put on a brilliant show which was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.
Four Dynamite girls have been invited to trial at the QLD High Performance centre; this is a great honour to both the families
and the coaches who have prepared the girls. Well done too Kayla M, Brianna M, Hannah F and Paige R.
Easter Holidays.
A reminder that all classes are as normal for the Easter school holidays (except the Easter long weekend). Don’t miss out on
your school holiday classes because they are always a lot of fun. These holidays we will have our “holiday around the world”
week for our Gymstart and kindergym classes, the kids will get to swing in the jungle, ski the slopes and climb the mountains
all without having to leave the State.
A reminder that Vacation care will run on Tuesday and Thursday during the school holidays from 8:30 AM-5:00 PM, at a cost
of only $35 per day. We are a registered care provider so the fee’s can be claimed. Vacation care is lots of fun, and the kids
have plenty of free time in the gym to have as many turns as they wish!
Block 2 Changes
Block 2 will see some exciting changes to the club! Due to huge the huge success of our WAG Levels program we are now
introducing an Advanced WAG class on Thursdays from 4:30-7:00 PM. Students must have progressed through our WAG
program and be ready for more advanced training.
Also our boy’s classes are growing, so we have made some changes to allow for this program to continue to grow. Our MAG
classes are now being held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening from 5:00-6:30PM. Note the Friday class will not be
continuing in block 2.
We are very excited to be extending our Performance program in block 2, with the start of a new training performance team
as a pathway for gymnasts to develop their performance skills and as a feeder to our esteemed senior performance team.
Training performance times - Fridays 5:00-6:00 PM and Senior Performance team times - Friday 6:00-7:30 PM. This will give
more gymnasts the opportunity to be a part of this exciting branch of gymnastics.
News around the gym
Our Kindergym and Gymstart classes have already had an exciting start to the year. So far we have had a variety of theme
weeks including our Australia week, swing, safety and spring and land week as well as many more. The kids have been
working hard and having a lot of fun at the same time. Block 2 is set to be even more exciting with our Easter theme week
and around the world holiday fun week coming up very soon.
Our teens are experiencing a variety of apparatus including Floor, Beam, Bars, trampoline, mini tramp and many more. These
enthusiastic gymnasts are making great progress already. This year we will be making this a more multi level class and
introducing a wider variety of skills to allow beginner gymnasts to learn the basics while our more experienced gymnasts can
work on more advanced skills, ensuring that everyone achieves to their potential.
Our WAG levels classes have been working hard as well. They are now preparing for their first strength and flexibility test for
2010, next week, and will all receive certificates for this early in block 2. We will then turn our attention to learning routines in
preparation for apparatus testing in Block 2.
The WAG squad are experiencing some exciting changes with new coach Hayley coming onboard to help coach the Junior
Girls. There have been some changes to the class format, with the introduction of specialist strength and apparatus classes
allowing them to maximise the use of the gym and increase apparatus time. The 2010 competition schedule is still being
finalised and will be forwarded to parents within the next few weeks.
The MAG program is growing strong with the boys now preparing for their first State squad training at the High performance
centre. The MAG squad invites two new faces this year with William G and Jack W joining the group, and showing they are
strong and hard working team members. Meanwhile the MAG Levels boys are preparing for a fun competition at Beaudesert
at the end of March.
Trampoline classes have taken a new focus this year. The kids are learning a wider variety of skills with the emphasis being
on allowing every child to achieve personal goals and bests.
Coaching team
You will have noticed some new faces around the gym. We would like to extend a warm welcome to Nikola Photinos who has
been an elite gymnast achieving Junior International status, recently retiring from competition. We will be glad to have her
experience in the gym as she works with our Gymstart and WAG levels classes.
Welcome back to Cassie Shelling who returns to our WAG levels program after uni holidays. Also in WAG levels we welcome
Elise McDonald who joins us from the Bay Gymnastics Club and has moved to Brisbane to study engineering.
New Uniform
Club Dynamite will have a fresh new look at competitions this year. We are phasing out our people design leotard and
tracksuit and seeing the introduction of a sleek new look uniform for our squads which compete outside the club venue.
Prices and information are available on the noticeboard. Please check leotards still fit before competition season begins.
