2007 SQUAD REPORTS

Kindergym from Kristen:
I would like to thank all our families that participate and get involved in our kindergym program. It has been a lot of fun getting to know you and your children.
It has been a privilege to watch many of the younger children progressively extend their skill level and at the same time watching the joy and delight when they master a new skill. It was great to see many of our younger children participate in our Club Presentation Day and I would like to extend my congratulations on a job well done!
Congratulations to those kindergym children who were promoted to our Gymstart program throughout the year. I am sure their dedication will shine through next year.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy and Safe Christmas and New Year and look forward to seeing you again for another great and exciting year.
Under 2’s program—any interest???? Please contact the Club.
Gymstart from Bec:
2007 has been a busy year for the gymstart classes at Club Dynamite, with the Club competition mid year and more recently our Club Presentation Day. We would like to say a big Well Done to all our gymstart children who participated on the day. They all did an exceptional job performing their floor routines and the large gym circuit.
Throughout the year the gymstart children have been working hard to achieve their skill goals. The skills are marked by a grade 1>3(1=attempted, 2=learning, 3=competent), the children have improved in all areas over the last year and many have achieved personal goals.
Big plans have been made for gymstart next year, with the introduction of “Award Cards”. These cards will be used to help encourage the children to follow directions and try out new and exciting skills! The cards will be kept at the gym-but will be accessible for parents to view their progress at any time. Once the child’s card has been completed an award will be given and the cards can be taken home to keep.
We look forward to seeing you all back in the gym for another year full of exciting new skills and lots of fun!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from the gymstart coaches: Bec, Kristen and Sam.
Gymstart Teens from John:
Everyone this year has improved, gained more confidence to try new things and by the class energy had fun along the way! I would like to thank the parents for their acceptance of the class time changes allowing me to continue to coach these classes.
Next year will be even better with more new skills and the same amount of fun.
Merry Christmas and a Safe New Year.
Cheerleading from Sam:
This term has been a busy one for all the cheer girls, with Elena leaving the Club and myself taking over the squad. I am very proud of their efforts on display night, it taught all of us a good lesson –ALWAYS have a backup copy of the music! Although the music failed, the girls still put on a great performance, WELL DONE.
With next year bringing competition season we will be focussing on building team numbers, building up our strength for the more difficult stunts to put into our routines and most importantly building our team spirit. 2008….BRING IT ON!!
Trampoline
Thank you for another fantastically successful year, all the trampolinists and their parents you have been great. It was nice to see lots of new faces attending the competitions and cleaning up the medal tally on many occasions.
I would like to thank Dave for all his help while I was overseas, and we look forward to more of Dave’s involvement in 2008. Special mention to Matthew, who as a young competitor himself rose to the occasion during the last interclub to help his junior Dynamite trampolinists as they were not familiar with the coach/judge replacing Anna, thank you Matthew.
Trampoline presentations and end of year gathering, will take place at Club Dynamite on Friday 14/12/07, commencing at 6pm, please bring a plate to share.
WAG Levels from Katie:
This year is now over and wow did we achieve some great things this year, ending it with a fantastic demonstration at the Club Dynamite Display, giving you just a taste of what these kids can do. We had an excellent turn out of children with WAG levels having the highest number of attendances of any group. It is great to see these children doing what they love and put so much effort into achieving skills.
With the change in regards to the testing/grading system, there has been an obvious improvement across all of the classes, no matter what their ability. The new system allows the child to move up levels on individual apparatuses, rather than having to stay on a level until all apparatuses have reached the passing score. This has improved confidence, self esteem and an overall improvement in their performance. Well done girls, very proud of what we were able to achieve this year and can’t wait to see what next year has in store for us.
Junior WAG from Leah:
This year has gone so fast. With lots of new faces at the start of the year, everyone has made a bunch of new friends and formed a great little squad. Learning new skills and trying new things, I think the girls should be very proud of themselves.
The club display was a highlight and I have heard great feedback about how good it was!
Well Done girls, see you next year.
MAG Squad from Dane:
Congratulations to the MAG team for again leading the way in 2007.
All the boys have worked extremely hard this year and all earned well deserved spots in the QLD State Championships. Just to qualify for state titles means that all the Club Dynamite men are among the best 48 gymnasts in the State.
Individually there were some brilliant results, Lockie Rowan (level 2) performed amazingly and earned himself the status of Qld Champion on the Pommel Horse. Well done Lockie!
Another highlight includes the performance of Ryan Roberts (level 4 O), who just missed out on medals for rings and parallel bar, narrowly finished 4th by 0.2pts on each event..oooh that close!
Hugo, in a very competitive level 3 field, was outstanding performing his routines expertly, but unfortunately missed medals.
Connor Anderson, Connor Smith and Dorian Shuker were all champions as they performed their difficult level 4 routines, but suffered a similar plight and narrowly missed the medals. We will get there next time!
A big thank you, to all the parents who have been wonderful in supporting the boys. Thank you also for supporting the coach, it is really appreciated.
Next year sees big challenges ahead as we move onward and upward. I am sure if we work hard, smart and stay focused we will be successful once again.
Have a Merry Christmas and Safe New Year, God Bless.
WAG Competition Squad from Casey:
Term 4 has been very rewarding and enjoyable. At the start of the term all level 4 and level 5 girls competed at Mitchelton Invitational, all gymnasts scored personal bests for 2007.
Another big highlight was Belinda King qualifying for Junior States, congratulations on all your hard work Belinda.
For the last 6 weeks we have increased the girl’s strength and flexibility programs, in which they have been working well.
The girls will be having a 3 day clinic from 10th>12th January (8am>12md), we will incorporate some cross training (swimming), to get the girls in great shape for 2008. Normal afternoon classes will commence on Monday 14th January. We have made some clearer definitions of the squads for 2008, to allow an easier progression from the other groups and a more conducive learning environment based on skill, strength, flexibility and commitment to training.
Hope to see you all there. I am looking forward to seeing you all in 2008, ready to learn new and exciting skills ready for the start of the competitive season in May.
Overview from Heather
Well 2007 has been one of the Club’s toughest years, we have seen the impact of reduced numbers primarily due to the school prep year, lifestyle changes with working parents just finding it harder to get their children to after school commitments on time, administration dilemmas with Sandra doing a champion job while caring for her new babe and myself seeming to have operation after operation for the past 5 months.
Nevertheless we survived, thanks to everyone’s understanding and the team putting in that little bit more every time they were in the Club to help out. THANK YOU ALL and I promise next year we will be on fire, with all systems and all team members operating to capacity!
Congratulations to Anna and Scott who are now happy that we all know Anna is 5 months pregnant, Nicole’s baby brother or sister is due 7th April 2008.
Gymnastics Australia introduced a system to help clubs cope with the ever increasing work load to comply with risk management and safety standards, and I am pleased to say Club Dynamite is within the top 25% of clubs. We have a harder battle being a private club and not eligible for any grants or funding, however this I believe has made us stronger and with a greater commitment to provide the best possible service. All clubs are required to submit an annual checklist, including equipment, management systems, programs offered, coach qualifications and current child safety requirements prior to being re-affiliated for the following year and this has made the sport much better organised from the National organisations down to the local club.
Another thank you to all who supported our Club Display afternoon, it is always great to see all the children show off what they have learnt, this has always been an integral part of our philosophy and our belief that all children can benefit from physical challenges and that the love of sport will encourage them to take care of their bodies through the difficult teenage years and beyond into adulthood.
Next year will see a more defined class progression structure within the Club, greater use of electronic systems, more information for parents including a club and competition handbook and with a bit of “luck” a login system, so you can update your details and check your child’s progress online!

Thank you all for being a part of Club Dynamite during 2007 and we look forward to seeing you all with a few friends joining you in 2008.
Enjoy the Festive Season, Stay Safe, Healthy and most of all HAPPY!
