What an incredible weekend we had at the Future Stars Brisbane competition on July 13th-14th.
All 4 of our Performance Teams competed at in the amazing Garden's Point Theatre at QUT, and all 4 teams took out a 1st place in the competition!
We began on saturday afternoon without our Intermediate Performance Team, contesting the 12 years and under Acrobatics division. The team entered 2 routines and blitzed it, taking BOTH 1st and 2nd place in th event, with their 2 routines! We are especially proud of the 1st placing with their 'Jealous of the Angels" routines, its such a difficult piece and they really stepped it up to amazing the audience with their incredible skills and performance quality.
We were back at 7:30AM on Sunday morning for our Mini Performance Team to compete in the 8 years and under Acrobatics section. It was just 11 degrees and we needed intense games of tag to warm up, but our youngest performers were on fire on stage. Their routines was amazing, with new difficult skills added in. The girls won 1st place in the 8 yrs and under age group.
Next up it was time for our Juniors to compete in the 10 years and under age sections. The juniors won 1st place with their Frozen routine in the 10 years and under Acrobatics section, and like the Minis, that means they have been undefeated so far this year! They took home 2nd place in the 10 yeards and under Any Style section, with their Newsies routine, where they competed against so many different amazing styles of performance.
To finish off the weekend our Seniors were up to compete in the 15 years and under age sections. They started off in the incredibly difficult 15 years and under Acrobatics section, where they wowed the judges with a 2nd place with their "lord of the rings" routine. After a long wait which included McDonalds for dinner and a candy salad, they hit the stage again, winning 1st place with their "Can can" routine in the 15 years and under Any Style section.
Well done to all of our teams. We are now preparing for our August competitions, with our team contesting the Gold Coast eisteddfod and Ipswich Performers Festival in mid August.
